Business Operations Support

The behind-the-scenes work that keeps money moving correctly.

What This Covers

Bookkeeping is about recording what happened. Business operations support is about making sure things happen correctly in the first place.

This includes the day-to-day financial operations work that most small business owners either handle themselves (often badly, because it is not their expertise) or let fall through the cracks until something breaks. Invoicing customers. Paying vendors. Processing payroll. Filing sales tax. These are not glamorous tasks, but when they go wrong, the consequences are real: late payments, missed filings, penalties, strained vendor relationships, and employees who do not get paid correctly.

I handle these operations so you can focus on running your business.

What Is Included

Accounts receivable management

I make sure your customers get invoiced accurately and on time. That includes creating and sending invoices, tracking outstanding balances, following up on overdue payments, and applying payments when they come in. If you are chasing down late-paying customers yourself, this alone will give you hours back every week.

Accounts payable management

I manage your vendor bills and payments so nothing falls through the cracks. That means entering bills when they come in, tracking due dates, scheduling payments, and making sure you are not paying the same invoice twice or missing early-payment discounts. For businesses with a lot of vendor relationships, this keeps your cash flow organized and your vendor relationships healthy.

Payroll processing and review

Payroll has to be right. Employees expect to be paid accurately and on time, and the tax implications of getting it wrong are serious. I process payroll through QuickBooks Online Payroll (or review payroll processed through a third-party provider), verify that withholdings are correct, ensure payroll tax liabilities are recorded accurately, and make sure payroll entries hit the right accounts in your books. This includes tracking employer payroll taxes, workers' comp, and retirement contributions.

Sales tax compliance and filing

If your business collects sales tax, you need to file and remit it on time. I track your sales tax liability, prepare the filing, and make sure you are remitting the correct amounts to the correct agencies (CDTFA for California businesses, or the appropriate state agency for out-of-state obligations). For businesses selling on multiple platforms or across state lines, I help navigate marketplace facilitator rules and nexus requirements.

How This Fits Together

Business operations support can be part of a monthly bookkeeping engagement or a standalone service depending on your needs. Some clients need the full picture: monthly bookkeeping, financial reporting, and operations support. Others just need help with payroll and sales tax while they handle the rest themselves.

We will figure out the right scope in our initial conversation. I do not sell packages. I scope the work based on what your business actually needs.
